MHA Third Annual Conference
MHA is monitoring the coronavirus outbreak closely and are in close contact with the Department of Health and Hospitals as well as paying close attention to the direction of our state officials. At this juncture we are moving forward with the conference as such and will continue our previously stated refund policies. Should we receive additional information which results in our changing direction on the conference we will of course honor all refund requests.

MHA is hosting our 3rd annual conference in April 2020.
The conference offers the opportunity for professionals in Behavioral Health to gain valuable knowledge on innovative treatments and approaches. The interactive and evidence based sessions also provide continuing education credits for social workers, LPC’s, addiction counselors and peer support specialists. It is critical to those who need behavioral health services in our community that professionals are exposed to the latest research, ideas and best practices. MHA is proud to be bringing a quality program as well as networking opportunities including interactions with companies providing support products and services.
Conference Theme and Speakers
The Conference theme is 2020 Vision – A Vision of Now and In the Future. MHA will focus on the work in the field and on policy to move behavioral health into mainstream healthcare. The Conference will open with Senator Bill Cassidy, MD (confirmed pending vote schedule) giving the audience an overview of what is on the horizon for behavioral health policy at the federal level. Bill O’Quin and panel members will discuss ethics in behavioral health systems. Twenty-five breakout sessions will explore in greater detail the present and future of behavioral health in our region.
Audience and CEUs
This conference is for social workers, licensed professional counselors, therapists, addiction counselors, peer support specialists, first responders and others working on the front line of Behavioral Health. The conference will provide a total of 13 hours including 3 hours optional on Saturday. MHA anticipates over 350 attendees. Early Bird Registration will begin once we have finalized the schedule likely in December. This year the conference has moved to a new venue to better support the event.

The Mental Health Association for Greater Baton Rouge (MHA) has been in operation since 1954 when it began as an organization promoting advocacy and education on mental illness and related issues. MHA has grown to include programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and individuals suffering from substance addictions in the Greater Baton Rouge area and statewide
